Poleblitz Gold Coast

SCG is currently working with Poleblitz Gold Coast to create a stunning coffee book. Aimed to capture and showcase some of the amazing skills and physical results that this rising sport produces in a way only SCG can capture.

Poleblitz is a relatively new company, established in 2009 and based on the Gold Coast. This business has faced much adversity and challenges from the council and the general public upon opening, with all the preconceived ideas that people have about pole dancing.

When you say 'Pole Dancing' your immediate thought is most likely 'strippers'......right???

Well the tide is changing,  pole dancing rephrased 'pole fitness' is quickly becoming a recognised, acceptable, effective and FUN way to excercise and sculpt your body.

It is a rapidly growing sport that's transforming what was once the exclusive property of strip clubs into a respectable, admirable and highly athletic sport and a performing art.

There has even talk of it being included in the Olympic games!!!

There are no limits.... Any one can do it!

Poleblitz caters for everyone!  Women of all shapes and sizes attend so dont be shy or worried if you have xtra lumps n bumps, with this they will soon be gone!

Classes accommodate all levels of fitness. It can be used as both an aerobic and anaerobic workout.

The benefits of pole fitness are......
An increase in strength,  stamina,  flexibility,  muscle tone, core strength, self confidence, personal achievement and is an excellent form of cardio thus burning excess body fat! We all LOVE to burn body fat now dont we :) But lets not forget the most importnat thing this sport is loads of FUN!

So if your bored with your current exercise regime and looking for something a little different, challenging or slightly out of the box go and see Cheryl or Tyler At Poleblitz.

With competitive prices and an amazing variety of classes covering all aspects of Pole fitness and everything inbetween.

We gaurantee you will love it!!!!
You never know YOU might be in next years coffee book :)

SCG will be attending classes at Poleblitz and will show you regular footage of the results and skills gained during the process. Keep your eyes peeled, this should be interesting!!!!

SHOOOOOT ME!!! TODAY I AM A MODEL!!!! (Part 2 Rachels Model experience with SCG)

OM freaking G......
That was one of the most confronting, challenging, liberating and unforgettable days of my life.  It's midnight and i am totally exhausted!!!! BUT I am lying here in bed buzzing from today's events.. SO I must write now while its still Fresh..

Today was my big day. SHOOT TIME! Today I am a model. I get to see and experience it first hand what its like to be in front of the camera.

The day started with a cardio walk with Sarah (this was by no means an easy task, that girl has lllllong legs and she walks fast).
Then back to the apartment for a quick shower and 'four'....yep that's right FOUR applications of fake tan. The metamorphosis begins. Sarah then works her magic with my hair and make-up.

(I'm not to knowledgeable in this area but would assume that finding a photographer that has complete control of her shoot from start to finish would be a rare and amazing thing. It truly helped to make me feel at ease).

Two hours later , outfits are chosen  I AM READY!!

I have my first outfit on I'm pumped and then Sarah Campbell 'photographer extraordinaire' picks up her camera and bag and says "lets go".
My mind immediately spins into a wild panic........
"what do mean lets go"????
"Lets go where"????
"You want me to go out there????.....In public????....with people????........Dressed like this"???? SHUT the BEEEP UP!!!!

All this time i was under the illusion that we would be staying in the comfort of the amazing apartment we were staying in. I had it all mapped out in my head. Safe.  LOL

(Remember that i am already facing a fear of being in front of the camera).

This is a big thing for me... I am in internal hysteria and follow her out the door like a good little girl under some magic spell.

Into the elevator and down to the forth floor...which at this stage might as well be a lobby in the busiest casino. Sarah has a unique eye, she found some unusual green ottomans and with a little instruction we began.

I felt awkward and uncoordinated (and i probably looked it to) but with a few words of encouragement i mesmerised myself to another place... where there was no-one but myself and Sarah clicking away with her camera.... Because let me tell you when Jo Blogs, Mary-Jane, Grandma, Grandad & the kids are walking past and watching you POSE,  it takes having your photo taken to a whole other level!!!! Nerves under control , its time to move on and find another location.

This time we are in the lobby/entrance to the bbq area of the hotel, where there are some sculpture type cylinder things. With little time to get comfortable with my surroundings we are back into it again.

NOTE: Holding awkward sexy poses and making it look effortless and comfortable is truly an art. It is NOT as easy as it looks!

I have a new found respect for what models endure during a photo shoot. It takes alot of focus, endurance  and you really have to connect with the photographer to have an understanding of what they are trying to capture.
Once again Sarah was amazing giving me encouragement and direction and helping me to forget that right above us on the staircase was a whole group of people watching ME.

Change of outfit and location, we do it all again.

Sarah Campbell is the Mistress of illusions capable of capturing, prying (damn near dragging in my case) the essence of 'YOU' into a picture.

Make-up application, hair, working with shoes that are to big, clothes that are to small, its too hot, too windy, too sandy (even tho its a beach lol).

'All of this' and more and still try to look comfortable, relaxed sexy and gorgeous.

Six hours, six locations, drenched in water and with sand in places it really shouldn't be, too tired to care we have to stop to pick up groceries and I'm in a towel with scraggy beach hair. BUT by now I'm comfortable in my skin no matter what I am wearing or who sees me. Finally we head back to the apartment.
I am exhausted in every sense of the word.  Body-Mind-Soul...  But this has also been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Taking flight.....

Well here i am...

Filled with intrepidation and excitement. At 39 I wonder if I have what it takes to have a successful photo shoot, in a world that is dominated by youth and beauty. My body is far from perfect, Its endured the birthing of three beautiful boys and the ravishing of life. I'm definitely not a size six, i have smile lines (and dimples) AND I'm terribly camera shy!!!! All that aside i made a conscious decision last year that I was determined to change the direction of my life, do things that were totally foreign, face fears, take up challenges, tear down walls and build something fantastic....ME....

I arrived in Australia late January 2012,  I have now learned that my prep for this shoot was a far cry from what models do to prepare. "They work hard for this". . . But i did up my exercising, exonerated junk food (this is not easy when you have three boys), cut out carbs and watched my portion sizes. I fake tanned and treated myself to a mani/pedi. I was feeling great :)

I've studied Sarah's work for months now and i truly feel the passion she has for her art. I love her images and am very blessed to have this opportunity to shoot with her. If i was asked to describe her work with one word it would be "EXQUISITE"

I have asked questions but i really have no idea what to expect on the day except the unexpected. I'm also under no illusion that at my age modelling is not really a career path (or is it??????) for me but I'm also determined to explore every aspect of the industry so i can i fully appreciate the business entirely. Warts and all.

I AM INTRIGUED!!!
